Hello! Tell us about yourself?
Hi! I’m Sara, I’m a clown and I do absurd and character based comedy. I trained as a serious actor in Spain and as a clown and many more things at Ecole Philippe Gaulier in France. I’m also a director! I recently directed Lachlan Werner: Voices of Evil and The Birth of Venus by Pink Mango. Both incredible shows if I say so myself.
This is my debut show in England. A one woman alien invasion. You can find me performing and cycling around London.
How did you come up with the name of your show that you’re taking to the Camden fringe?
I was making a film that was directed by a friend in a bunker, and we started brainstorming names, Supernova came first and I loved it but he told me there’s another show named that. So the name Supernueva came to me, because it’s similar, but it means super new in Spanish, so I thought it made sense as is my debut solo show.
Tells us a little bit about your style of show?
The show has a mix of clowning, improvisation and breast-shaped props. All your sci-fi dreams come true in the hands of a small Spanish alien. In one hour I will do the unimaginable – singlehandedly stage an epic, full blown, doomsday alien invasion.
What will your set be about?
I think it’s about being a woman in comedy. I say “I think” because the meaning seems to be changing all the time. It touches themes of being a migrant, motherhood, feminism. Deep themes but it’s also really silly.
What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?
Skin pigeon by Lorna Rose Treen. 25th August 6:30pm at the Bill Murray
Lachlan Werner: Voices of Evil 20th and 21st of August 9pm at 2Northdown
What advice would you give to others who want to perform at Camden Fringe next year?
Be yourself. Save money.
What are your favourite things about London?
What are your three favourite things about Camden?
Vegan junk food, the canal, the huge robot on that shop.
Favourite one liner you have done in a show and why?
I’m standing on a table. Come and you’ll know why.
Who would be your ultimate dream audience member?
An audience full of clones of myself.
The iconic image of the Camden Fringe is the Pigeon – if you could call this years pigeon a name to represent its style what would it be and why?
Jacinta. Looks like a Jacinta to me.
