How did you come up with the name of your show that your taking to the Camden fringe?
My stage name is Rosie May Riot and in this show there are a lot of Reveals! It features burlesque performers so expect nipple tassels and pasties galore!
Tell us a little bit about your style of show?
Riot Reveals is a Burlesque and Cabaret show which promotes inclusiveness, body positivity and self love. A lot of the cast are travelling from Scotland, grabbing some English chums on the way and we have a few London performers joining us too. There is Burlesque, Boylesque, comedy and drag. It will be a raucous and riotous 90 minutes!
What will your set be about?
It’s a variety show which covers everything from dance to drag, burlesque and performance art….and everything in between. But the main “theme” is body positivity. Every body is beautiful. And everybody is visible.
What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?
I really hope that I get to see some shows. Riot Reveals is on for two nights and there will be lots of promotion and handing out flyers during the day. But hopefully there will be time to catch some comedy shows. And to go shopping in Camden market.
It is your first time doing the Fringe – how do you feel about it?
It’s my first time at the Camden Fringe….and it’s actually my first time producing a live show!
I have performed at the Edinburgh Fringe a few times (and I am again this year) so I thought I would head to a different Fringe for the very first live Riot Reveals….and Camden is my very favourite place.
What advice would you give to others who want to perform at Camden Fringe next year?
Do it! Go for it!
What are your favourite things about London?
Camden is my favourite place in London. I love the chaos and colour – it is so imperfectly beautiful. I lived here for a while and still feel like it is home.
I love the markets in London – there are none like it at home in Edinburgh.
What are your three favourite things about Camden?
The Good Mixer pub – I practically lived here at one point. I was a Britpop 90s girl. Say no more!
Hans and Gretel in the Stables Market. My goodness! Absolutely worth the queues, I’ve never tasted dessert like it!
The Lost Elephant – Best vegan breakfast in London/the world!
Favourite one liner you have done in a show and why?
As my show is burlesque and cabaret I don’t really do one-liners. Although I have been known to tell audience members to sit down or else I’ll smack their bottoms!
Who would be your ultimate dream audience member?
Has to be…..Simon Neil from Biffy Clyro. I perform a routine to their song Animal Style and I’d love to see his reaction!
The iconic image of the Camden Fringe is the Pigeon – if you could call this years pigeon a name to represent its style what would it be and why?
I’d have to give it a burlesque name.
Tweety May Riot. Yeah, that sounds good!
If people want to find out more about you where can they follow you on social media?
Instagram and Facebook as Rosie May Riot and I also have a Facebook page for the show called Riot Reveals Burlesque and Cabaret
And Finally in three words – Why should people come and see the show?
Laughter
Positivity
Scottish banter (can I add an extra word?!)
