NEW FEATURE: Sunday Book Club – The Seat Filler, Sariah Wilson

Welcome to a brand new feature where we will be looking at the world of books. As an avid reader and someone who believes in romance, I love a rom com, however when you have read so many, it can be hard to find new ones that are good or to trust another author that you haven’t read before.

I go through the Kindle store deals a lot to see what books are reduced or are on sale that seem appealing to me, to try new authors and one day I came across author Sariah Wilson and the book the Room Maid, I will talk about this another time but today I am going to talk about one of her most recent releases.

The Seat Filler (2021)

Sariah Wilson

Synopsis

The movie star and the dog groomer are one kiss away from the perfect love story. That’s the hiccup in a warm and witty romance – from Sariah Wilsons website

Positive Points

As rom coms go, I found this one a really good, engaging read. It is one of those books that when you read you can easily imagine it being turned into a film and to be honest, I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets turned into something at some point in the future.

It is a book that initially you are not sure if you are going to enjoy, but give it until at least chapter 3 and you will want to keep reading. There are some comical situations and parts of the story that may seem unbelievable but that is what is fun about this genre of books.

The tension between the Juliet and Noah is great and it makes you want to keep reading the story throughout. It isn’t your average story and the fact that the lead character Juliet has issues about relationships isn’t a bad thing and a breath of fresh air.

Negative Points

I find that near the end of the story it feels slightly rushed, I feel it needed a few more chapters to really give it the ending that it deserves. Whilst it ended well, I feel that it was a bit cheesy and could of ended in a slightly different way.

Overall Review

All in all, it is a very fun read, it is one of those books that is great for a summer read, maybe sitting by the pool on holiday. It may be about a fictional actor but don’t let that stop you from reading it.
