Off The Record – ALBUM FOCUS – SUCKAPUNCH, You Me At Six

Have you ever wanted To listen to a new band or musician and not sure where to start? Well, instead of listening to their commercial music, why not start with something off the album first!  Today we look at the new album that was released last Friday by You Me At Six – SUCKAPUNCH

WYDRN

This song has a really interesting format to it and has a very different sound to the past albums and this one sort of focusses on this electronic sound mixed with big and bold chorus lines. This track has verses where the lyrics are the stars as the music behind the words is subtle and immerses you into this world of the song. The chorus is very electronic based and has this striking melody that you can’t help but like.

SUCKAPUNCH

To me, the lead track is the most important track on any album because it is what the album has been named after and there is usually a reason or a theme evident in the song. This song is bold, striking and very different from the bands normal style but also emphasises the next steps in this bands development which to me makes it one of the best tracks on the album. The electronic dance style and the shouty words work so well together and it is a track you can imagine being phenomenal played live.

Voicenotes

This is one of the slower tracks on the album but the prominent sound on the song is this dramatic drum beat that is really dramatic and emphasises the emotion in the song. The electronic sound is still evident but the older styles of the band are evident in this band which I feel makes a great addition to this album and really highlights Josh’s vocal talents.

Finish What I Started

This has a really uplifting feel to it and I can understand why it is the penultimate track on the album it is a song with a really catchy chorus and a beat that you cannot help but tap your foot along to. It has a set of lyrics that are really good to listen to and create the drama you want from the end of an album.
