Today we look at a computer game that apparently was ahead of its time as it allowed you to choose the gender of the character you played as. Park Patrol was released on the Commodore 64 in 1984. It was developed by Activision and published by Firebird software.
The game is focused around a park ranger whose aim and main focus is tidy up the rubbish. In the game you move around the Rangers Hut, the Lake and the Shoreline collecting rubbish. To clean up on the water you drive an inflatable motorized dinghy.
Throughout the game there are many enemies you have to fight including turtles, snakes and even swimmers if you get in that way of them swimming. Some of the challenges you have to do in the game include rescuing drowning swimmers, saving food from ants stealing it and dropping snake repellent. Once all of the litter is collected in a level you are awarded a variety of bonus levels.
