It is a term that is used a lot when you first start out doing improv and it is is something that sticks with you from then on. What is the game of the scene?

When you first start improv, you just don’t understand this phrase very well. It took a while for me to really understand the nitty-gritty of this technical terminology and even longer to really truly master and make sure I look out for it.

The main goal of finding the game is keeping an eye on the patterns of interaction that’s a getting reaction from the audience. The aim of finding the game means that when you really understand what is great and what is creating the ‘punches’ in the scene, you should build on it and heighten it in the situation.

Now it is important to point out that this does not have to be the first thing the audience find funny in a scene. It would be something that is a secondary reaction response that happens because of that. Finding the game is really difficult skill to finesse when you first start improv but once you have got it, you will do nothing else and really enjoy the results.
