In The Games Corner – BOARD GAME MONTH – Articulate

Since it is board game month, I thought it would be fun to talk about different board games that I have played and enjoyed. This is a game that we used to play a lot when I was growing up, so let’s have a look at it today.

Articulate was originally released in 1992 and since it’s release it has been in the top 10 of the UK adult games bestsellers, in 2009 it even over took Trivia Pursuit. The game is created by Drummond Park and is to be played with 4-20+ players.

In the game, the main aim is to guess as many words as you can that your team members are describing. There are six categories altogether which are object, nature, random, person, action and world. You move around the board using the number of correct answers as the count. Ever so often you get the chance to use the spinner for a bonus.

The board game has 500 cards, 5,000 words, a spinner, a timer and four player pieces. If you want to play it a lot you can also purchase an expansion pack.

Growing up we altered the way that we played this slightly because there was only two of us so we had to adjust the rules for it to work but it still worked well. It was always a fun game to play and taught me a lot as a kid as well.
