Off The Record – ALBUM FOCUS – More. Again. Forever, The Courteneers

Have you ever wanted To listen to a new band or musician and not sure where to start? Well, instead of listening to their commercial music, why not start with something off the album first!  Today we look at the latest album by The Courteneers – More. Again. Forever.

Heart Attack

This song opens with a heavy guitar riff that is low and powerful and makes it a kicker of a song to start off a new album. The lyrics are simple but the way that they are sung creates a poetic vibe to the song and emphasises the heavy and raw vibes of the song. The song has some great musical interludes throughout which really create a powerful song.

More. Again. Forever.

This song starts with a group of people talking in a public place and the audio gradually kicks in. It has a very electronic sound to it and has a very talking style verse that feels very arty in its vibe. The highlight of this song is the high pitched guitar melodies that intertwine throughout the song. The beat may seem Repetitive but if you listen to the lyrics they really compliment each other.

The joy of Missing Out

This song opens with a fun music melody which is a number of guitars playing different pitches and creates a real indie feel to the song that is fast pace and the need to feel like you have somewhere to go. The drums are progressive throughout and create dramatic beats here and there whilst also creating a steady tempi here and there. Just a fun tune.

Is Heaven Even Worth it?

This song opens with a string melody that seems very flat but creates an interesting and bittersweet melody. The song is mellow and is all about emotions that you can hear metaphorically through the music and the melody. The chorus is a stand out and really feels like it brings this whole album together. I would say this is my favourite song on the album as it is so unique.
