As part of my travels around this beautiful country I was lucky enough to visit Lake Tekapo in early December which is when the Lupin flowers are in full bloom. Unfortunately these particular flowers are not native to New Zealand and are actually considered a weed. They were originally planted as grazing for sheep but have since spread and somewhat taken over.
Despite them not being from New Zealand and being technically a pest. They are amazing to see in full bloom. They take over the whole lake front with an amazing variety or colours. I was lucky enough to get a sunny morning whilst staying at the new YHA in Lake Tekapo and was able to get some amazing photos of the variety of colours.
