On the 10 March,The Phoenix Remix is returning to Hoopla Impro, The Miller, London Bridge and over the next week we sit down with some of the acts that are performing at the show to find out more about them and what they have in store for the audience. Today we talk to the house team The Phoenix Players.
Hello tell us about your troupe and three unknown facts!
Hello we are the Phoenix Remix House team and we can’t wait to another show and this time we are super excited about heading into future and space! Three unknown facts about the group:
- Two thirds of the group celebrate the same birthday
- We throw tennis balls around a lot in rehearsal – I have no idea why, it started on the first rehearsal and now just happens all the time – its a good way to go about planning. Gets the juices flowing and we have got really good at catching!
- All of our favourite improv short form game by coincidence is lines from a hat
You are performing at Phoenix Remix Live how are you feeling about it?
Really excited! We love performing at the shows as it means because it raises money for a good cause each time, we get to see an array of lots of different acts and also test out new material all at the same time!
What do you have in store for the audience as part of your set?
This time round we are doing something completely different from the last show – we are testing out a new concept that we have never played before so that is really exciting! We are taking Improv to the future! That is all we are going to say…
What are some of your favourite parts of the Phoenix Remix website and why?
I love the interviews with all the improv acts as it is a great way to keep a note of what acts I need to see live. Also I really like the Music articles – really enjoying Magic of the Music Video at the moment as it is a really interesting way to look at music videos and it’s always great to see what inspires our Editor!
This months show is all about the future, technology and space. What would be your dream gadget that you are still waiting to be invented?
Hmmmm……I want virtual reality and AI to be able to allow you to really embrace the digital world but not just for social media I mean for all aspects of life. I think it is interesting what companies such as Melody VR are doing with music but I want it to go beyond the 360. I want to be able to really interact with AI….how that is I have no idea but I feel it is a long way off.
The show is also raising money for the Douglas Bader Foundation – why should people donate?
It is a fantastic charity that does a lot for people who were born with or have lost a limb, they do a lot of work and co-operate with a lot of companies to help with this. Also the history behind Douglas Bader is fascinating and I recommend giving him a Google just to read all about him. I think it is great to see a charity show that is fundraising for the lesser known charity and gives them more exposure amongst people that may of not heard of them before.
