In The Games Corner – Animaniacs, SNES

It was one of my favourite cartoons when I was growing up and then it disappeared from the UK- I heard it got banned I don’t know if that is true but I used to love the havoc that the trio used to get up on the Warne Brothers lot. I have spoken about the Playstation two game on here before but I only realised through research that there was a game before that one on the Super NES so I thought it was only right that I spoke about it today.

Animaniacs was released in 1994 on the SNES, it was developed by Konami and Published by them as well. The game was a plaform game and depending on what gaming platform you purchased it for, the aim of the game altered. In the SNES version Brain the mouse aims to take over the world again and this time his devilish plan entails stealing a script from Warner Brothers that is a film that is under development. The aim of the game is to help the CEO of Warner Brothers retrieve the 24 pages of the script.

The game is based around parodies of films of different genres and throughout the game Yakko Wakko and Dot all have different abilities to fight against the enemies. They also have the ability of using each other to create building blocks to reach higher platforms.

It is really intetesting reading about this older game compared to the Playstation 2 game because even though they are completely different narratives they cross over quite a lot in some ways. It is nice to see this though as it sticks to the themes and portrays them in a fun way.
