Off The Record – ALBUM FOCUS – Everything Else Has Gone Wrong, Bombay Bicycle Club

Have you ever wanted To listen to a new band or musician and not sure where to start? Well, instead of listening to their commercial music, why not start with something off the album first!  Today we look at the brand new album by Bombay Bicycle Club  – Everything Else Has Gone Wrong

Get Up

This introduction to the latest album is uplifting and creates a melodic atmospheric sound. It is all about building up the song progressively with more instruments being included as the song goes on. The music is the predominant focus of this song not really the lyrics and sort of welcomes you into the world of Bombay Bicycle club. Expect it to focus on indie rhythms and the unexpected.

Is it real

This song starts with a strong drum beat that is an important part of the song as a whole as it brings the whole melodic experience together. The lyrics are simple but it is the focus on the music yet again and that is the style of Bombay Bicycle Club it is all about making you dance then then poetic symbolism of the words. The guitar melody that intertwines throughout the song is very catchy and worth a listen juat for that.

Everything Else Had Gone Wrong

This is the title track on the album and it is also one of the best songs on here as well. It has a really addictive and interesting beat that sounds familiar whilst also new at the same time. This is the sort of indie track you can imagine show such as Chuck, Gossip Girl or The OC having. If you are new to this band I would say start with this song on the album as it really shows what this band can do.

I Worry Bout You

Personally this is not a favourite of mine on the album as I find it a bit repetitive. So why should you listen to this song – the percussion alone. Really listen to the song and you will notice the talent that has gone into the background, especially the tambourine.

Do you feel loved

This song starts with a flute style sound and gradually builds up with guitars and a dramatic drum beat. This song is melodic and it is one of the songs on the album I feel that the lyrics are just as important as the tune to push the song along as it sort of feels like music is built around them to create ambiance and emotion.
