Welcome to a brand new feature that is going to be your regular Tuesday lunchtime article! Due to the popularity of Question Roulette the past few years, I thought it was time to jump to another book with lots of questions. This time the book is called Music Madness Mayhem – the book covers everything from film, television, music, and much more! So every week we will be covering questions from the book until we run out! I am not going to number them this time as I am going to be doing the book in a random order!
Topic of the week – Bands
Best bands
I have a lot of bands that I listen to on repeat but today I am going to talk about three bands – one has been a favourite of mine for years, another is quite new to the list and the other I am recommending you should listen to. I have about 6 favourite bands so I tried to choose three I don’t talk about as much.
Angels and Airwaves – I adore this band and I do not speak about them enough, I adore the complexity of the music compositions and the lyrics that Tom Delonge provides creates a contrast that welcomes you into this narrative based world. This whole world of Angels and Airwaves is based around space and the universe and you can really feel this experience when you listen to it.
Panic! At The Disco – This is another band I don’t talk about on here as much as I should but they are at the top of my favourite bands. Brendan Urie is such an inspiration to me and it is musicians like him that make me want to push myself more creatively. Their music is so good and I love the fact that all their albums are so different.
Guilty Pleasures
Lonely Island – Since this is only about bands, I am sticking to that and you can have the guilty pleasure singers another time. I listen to Lonely Island way too much, I haven’t for a good few months but when I am in the mood I will listen to their entire back catalogue on repeat for a long time. The only problem is that the songs that get stuck in my head are usually the ones with the rudest words.
Who would be in my band
This is a hard question that I have thought about time and time again but I thought about it and I think this would be a good start.
Brendan Urie – As I have mentioned already on this article, I am a huge fan of how talented Brendan is and he would be an amazing person to have in a band – not just because of his songs but because he is very talented and can play an array of instruments. The fact that he rebrands over and over again that would be a wonderful thing to have in a band and he also can sing pretty much any style of song.
Travis Barker – There is only one person I want as a drummer and that is Travis Barker – he is a legend and he is one musician that takes an idea and pushes it to the limit. From drumming upside down to create some of the most createive drum beats, this is one person that will make the music amazing.
josh Ramsay – The frontman of Marianas Trench is extremely talented, he can reach extraoridnary pitches with his voice and his lyrics take you on a journey. I think putting him into a group with these people would be a really interesting experiment. I think his creativity would be see interesting to watch how it works with the others and I think it would be the start of something wonderful. Just like Brendan he is multi-talented and can play an array of instruments and is not shy to use ones that people wouldn’t usually add.
Lady Gaga – Lady Gaga is one of the best performers I have seen live and also watched and the things I love about her is that her voice is adaptable to any genre and can make it shine so well and she isn’t afraid to take risks. I love the fact that she knows how to put on a show and they are usually an experience not just a gig. Just the thought of her performing with Josh Ramsey and Brendan Urie who are both fantastic are creating a narrative and a show (Josh in his lyric writing and Brendan in his performance) just imagine the magic the three them could create if they were all put together.
Best Performers
There are so many bands I have seen live but here are a couple that I want to mention today.
Kasabian – I was never a fan of Kasabian, I couldn’t get on with their music and found them irritating. However, when I was at University I got dragged to their concert and it completely changed my view on them and made me fall in love with them. They were so good live, they had the whole audience around me of all ages up and dancing and singing the lyrics back to them and the energy was electric.
Backstreet Boys – We have to include at least one pop related band and I could not go without mentioning themn as I have seen them live twice and both times they have blown me away. They are so great live, their dancing is on point and seenig them live is like an experience more then a show. I have seen them in America and the UK and both times have been amazing.
