Have you ever wanted To listen to a new band or musician and not sure where to start? Well, instead of listening to their commercial music, why not start with something off the album first! Today we look at the latest album by The Chainsmokers – World War Joy
The Reaper feat Amy Shark
This song starts off very acoustic style with a lot of oohs with is a subtle and clever way to start an EP. There is an electronic beat that hits throughout the verse that is addictive and sounds quite quirky. When the mention of th Reaper comes in the bass starts to drop and its dirty and heavy and that’s what makes it stand out. There is a really hard hitting baseline that breaks up the verses and it heightens the song completely.
See The Way feat Sabrina Claudio
The piano creates a repetitive melody that creates a calming environment for this song to take place. This song yet again focuses on basslines but that is a good thing because it heightens emotions being expressed in the song. The drop in this song is heavy and mixes Sabrina vocals into this surrealist style and it works well.
P. S I Hope You Are Happy feat Blink-182
The song automatically has an uplifting jingle throughout the first verse which sort of juxtaposes the lyrics that are being sung. This song has more of a pop sense to it then the ones before it and its nice to hear a different style for this album. You can hear the distinct transition when Blink start to feature as the drums sound very Travis like and the guitars pick up.
Kills You Slowly
This song has a lot to listen to when it starts the instrumental is a mix that is a delight to the ears and makes you want to listen to it over and over again to try and work out how many instruments have been used. The song again has a heavy bass line but again it is used for emotional expression and works really well. The music has a lot of a calmer sense to it and it makes a very melodic tone.
