For this weeks show of the week we are heading up to Nottingham for a very special event. MisssImp is holding their show Consenting Partners which is an evening celebrating all things twoprov! The show takes place at Nonsuch Studios at 7.30pm on the 18th May. Throughout the week we will have interviews with a number of the acts performing. This morning we speak to Sisters of No Mercy.
Hello! tell us all about who you all are and a little bit about yourselves?
We have been neighbours and friends for around 20 years
How did your troupe form?
When we get together we often pretend to be different characters
Tell us a little bit about the show that are happening this week?
We will be performing different characters depending on the prompt word given for inspiration
What is the best thing about being in a twoprov?
If you know the other person well it works better.. There is also more time for pauses, facial expressions, which is not always possible in group improv.
What is the most challenging?
Making sure we are on the same wavelength and being able to ‘read’ each other when performing.
What makes you different to other twoprov acts out there?
Age! we are both a lot older the most improv duos…
What festivals are you guys planning on heading to this year?
Still to look into this as the last year for both of us has been overtaken by dealing with the loss of our husbands.
It is the month of May – What festivals are you most looking forward to this summer and why?
As above question. Pat is performing as a stand up at Little Ed festival in May.
What advice would you give for people thinking about starting an improv troupe themselves?
To practice a lot together and have fun.
What is the best thing about a night at your show for the audience?
That they enjoy the unpredictability of improvisation
And Finally in three words – Why should people come and see the show?
Enjoy the unexpected
QUICK FIRE ROUND
If you could be any famous duo from TV, Film or Music what would your twoprov be and why?
Wood and Walters
Hinge & Bracket!!
Who creates the craziest improv characters?
We both equally create crazy characters
What is your favourite thing about one another?
We always laugh when we are together (often helped by a couple of G & Ts)
What is the thing that the other would go viral for?
I would go viral for my stand up stuff.
You have £50 in your pocket to buy the other a present – what would you get them and why?
Some really good Gin & tonic
If you had to release a duet – what would the song be and why?
Sisters of (No) Mercy are doing for themselves (again)
The toughest question of all – last rolo – would you keep it or give it to your twoprov buddy?
Bite into 2 x
