Angouleme is a town that I have found is one of Frances best kept secrets and if you want to visit this wonderful place that is home to such things as the Cartoon Festival, then you should stay in the Mercure.
The Angouleme Mercure is located in Places des Halles, which is in the perfect place for access to the town. It is right opposite the market which is open in the morning until lunch where you can purchase local produce such as fruit, veg and patisserie. The hotel is also a 5 minute walk from the town centre.

View from back of hotel
The hotel itself is lovely – whilst it is a mixture of modern and old, It oozes with wonderful French characteristics which make it feel very friendly and homely. The staff are really friendly and the rooms are really comfortable. The great thing about Mercure hotels is that their beds are really comfy and they are also Cound proof rooms.
The price of the room really varies depending on how much you spend but they are very roomy and each one has a lovely view. If you have a room overlooking the back of the hotel you are rewarded with a view of the church that makes up the town hall and it is so quaint.

Example of food from restaurant
It is not just the rooms that are lovely, the restaurant downstairs also provides some wonderful food. Local business people even go there for their meetings as it is so well respected.
If you are in Angouleme give it a try, you will not be dissapointed.
