I love to travel as I am sure you aware from all of the articles I write on a weekly basis. I ever so often keep diaries but sometimes when you are on the move it can be hard to remember to keep them up. One of the times I did write every day was when I lived in NYC for three months in the summer of 2010. As part of our university course we had to do work experience, I knew one of my friends was going abroad so I thought I would join them and take a jump and go to NYC. I was 21 and it was my first time travelling on my own so I wanted to document it. So, this month I am going to share some of my diaries as well as some articles here and there about certain things I visited in NYC.

Hi! Great start at camp as a teacher! This morning consisted of going over the main important information about the job. The first activity were ice breakers to get to know each other as a team. We had to tie a 10 foot piece of string around our finger and talk about ourselves the whole time we were wrapping it around. The next activity was a team building exercise where the 6 of us had to stand on a mat and all had to try and turn it over with us still on it.
It consisted of a bit of squishing up and holding one another. The next activity was a personal development activity where we had to put down our strengths and weaknesses and over the weeks we will see if we have improved over these areas.
We then had a chance to decorate our sections of the room and name our computers (Note from Editor – I was working at a summer camp where I was teaching students how to create animations, graphic design and websites. )
After lunch and decorating we had a safety meeting about what to do in case of a fire, earthquake, tornado, fire etc all the stuff that may happen. We then had a tour of the campus and where we were going and do a risk assessment of the areas,
I also got asked to design the leaflets with all of our biographies on it. Had dinner at a Mexican it was really really nice, I had fajitas. Then we played guitar hero and lots of other games.

Hi!
Today we had the last few meetings before camp starts tomorrow – today was all about role play where someone was the student and someone was a teacher to get used to handling difficult situations.
This morning I made a design for the staff bio that’s being handed out to the parents. We then went round getting staff group photos, we also learned about the set up for tomorrow. Had a salad from McDonalds and played guitar hero tonight.

Second day of camp was a success! I ended up teaching a 12 year old how to make a website just by coding! Also I taught two others how to do graphic design in Photoshop! I played soccer with the kids in activity time.
Had a laundry night with the guys, accidentally flooded the laundry room and played games later on.
Note from the editor – Due to the fact I was teaching kids everyday I will skip to the interesting sections then the boring bits
