Welcome To Taste of States a place where we celebrate the weird and wonderful food of the United States of America. This can be everything from the snacks that are available for a limited time to the foods that are classic traditions at events such as Christmas and Thanksgiving! Each week we will explore the facts and the history surrounding a different food.
This month we are delving into the world of my American Diaries of when I lived in the States for 3 months in 2010. One of the places I ate at in NYC was a chain restaurant called 5 Napkins. Five Napkins is an American Burger chain that is located throughout New York city with locations in Hells Kitchen, Upper East Side and Union Square.
It is the home of the original five napkins burger which consists of burger, gruyere cheese, caramelised onion, rosemary aioli on a soft white potato rolls. I guess it is called five napkins because the burgers are, well huge!
There are many different burgers that you can order on the menu all ranging in different flavours. Some of the burgers include Bacon Cheddar, Double 5 Cheeseburger Smash, Avocado Ranch, Truffle, Turkey, Ahi Tuna, The Impossible and Buffalo Chicken. There is so much on the menu as well that is not burgers too for those who are wanting something different.
I remember going to 5 Napkins in 2010, I remember it was a really nice the restaurant itself and I also remember my reaction when I first saw the burger. The cheese, there was so much cheese and so MUCH onion! I can’t remember if I finished it but I do remember enjoying it!
