The Travel Book – Passage de l’Observatoire, Arcachon, France

When you visit somewhere as beautiful and really interesting as the Arcachon coastline,  you want somewhere to really absorb the view and take it all in and there is a place at great height where you can do this, the Passage de l’Observatoire.

The observation point was built by architect Paul Régnauld in 1863 and is made entirely out of metal. The viewing deck is 25 meters (approx 82 foot) in height and the structure is already on a top of a hill so if you are scared of heights then this is not the place for you. One reason is because of the height and the second reason is because of the spiral staircase.

The view from the top is pretty impressive and you can see for miles and can see very far on a clear day.
