It has come to the point of the year when we celebrate all things music and take a look back on the year and what songs that it has provided us with. This year has been the year of the comeback, so many artists have returned to the music scene and have had huge hit singles in doing so. Today we have a look at the first ten in our list of greatest songs of 2018.

1 Filthy – Justin Timberlake

This song was released at the beginning of the year and showed a new style of music from Mr JT. In the music video he pretends to be someone like Steve Jobs and introduces the world to a new type of Robot.


2 For You – Liam Payne and Rita Ora

This song was released as a single for the last Fifty Shades of Grey film and it also started to spread rumours that Liam was cheating on Cheryl Cole with Rita Ora and these flared when he did a music award show with her and their dancing was quite sexy.

3 Dangerous Night – Thirty Seconds To Mars

This was the second single of the album America which was released in April. The song was produced by Jared Leto and the musician Zedd and it premiered on Zane Lowes Radio show on the 25th of January.

4 Thought Contagion – Muse

This year Muse returned with a brand new album, a new tour and lots of exciting music as well along the way. This was one of the first singles off the new album and like all of Muse’s new music is was very creative and stood out.

5 Mad Love – Sean Paul

This year Sean Paul has released some really catchy dance tracks and this is one of them which also features David Guetta and Becky G. The song was praised for embodying every aspect of modern music. The song was originally meant to star Shakira but ended up changing due to Sean deciding a different song was better suited for her style.

6 Want You Back – 5 Seconds of Summer

This year saw the return of 5 Seconds of Summer and in February of this year they started to release new music. This album was a turning point in the bands career as they stated that they were moving away from their pop punk roots and delving into a new genre.

7 Promises – Calvin Harris feat Sam Smith 

If there is one DJ that always owns the summer playlists then it is none other then Calvin Harris. This year he released a huge song with Sam Smith called Promises which was released in August. The song went straight in at number one and stayed in the charts too.

8 Idol – BTS 

If there is one thing that has become a huge sensation this year then it is BTS – they have stormed the charts, had a sold out tour and even appeared on Ellen! BTS have pretty much taken over the world this year and when you see songs like Idol it is not hard to see why.

9 Four Out of Five – Arctic Monkeys 

Another band that returned to the music scene this year with a brand new album was none other then the Arctic Monkeys. This single was released in May and was welcomed with an array of reviews some saying it was one of the oddest songs they had released but actually really good.

10 Sangria Wine / Havana – Camila Cabello  Pharrell Williams

aThis is on of those songs that when you listen to it, it is hard to stop having the melody in your head. It also has its own dance moves as well which mean it can be addictive.  Camila has had a really successful music career since leaving behind Fifth Harmony and this is the second song to feature Pharrell Williams on it. The song is salsa influenced pop music.
