Welcome To Taste of States a place where we celebrate the weird and wonderful food of the United States of America. This can be everything from the snacks that are available for a limited time to the foods that are classic traditions at events such as Christmas and Thanksgiving! Each week we will explore the facts and the history surrounding a different food. Since it is Thanksgiving this week, I thought it would be fun to look at one of the products that have been on sale this year.
PRINGLES THANKSGIVING DINNER
This year there has been a snack that has been so popular that when they were released they sold out in a whopping 41 minutes! This year, Pringles decided to release three different flavours of Pringles for the holiday season – Turkey In A Can, Stuffing In A Can and Pumpkin Pie In A Can.
The unusual flavoured crisp went on sale on the Kelloggs (who own Pringles) website for $14.99 and sold out pretty much straight away. Last year they created a buzz around the crisp as they released eight different flavours to create a meal for Thanksgiving entirely out of Pringles, so this is probably why there has been so much popularity around the flavours this year. It was also only released to certain people last year as well so that is why there has been so much demand in relation to the flavours this year.
The product was released in a big tartan box with all three of the flavours inside. Last years packaging was more like a microwave dinner. So, will the trend transfer to the UK with Christmas? Who knows?
