Hello Alison tell us all about who you all are and a little bit about yourselves?
I am an improviser, and I love terrible jokes, cake and puppets. And all kinds of live performance. I have been hosting and producing Nevermind The Newsfeed for nearly two years.
How did the show at Harrow on the Hill come about?
Tell us a little bit about the Newsfeed show that is happening this week?
What acts do you have performing this month?
Derek’s Mojo and Punderstandably are doing improv, sketch from The Monks, stand up from Stacha Hicks, Kevin OConnell, Emily McQuade, Pope Lonergran, live music from Denis Fernando and I will be running a game.
With the Festival season just finished – what have been some of the best acts you have seen this summer and why?
I saw The Monks who are a great sketch act at Byline Festival and they are playing the November Newsfeed. I really liked them as it was different to anything I had seen before with a great combination of smart and silly that I always like. Derek’s Mojo are also one of my favourite improv acts and it was great to see them at the same festival storming it and bringing improv to a type of place that is usually more for music and stand up.
What advice would you give for people thinking about starting a variety night themselves?
See the acts yourself first live if possible and make sure that there is actually variety. In terms of diversity as well as acts.
What is the best thing about a night at this show for the audience?
I’ve had people tell me they really like seeing a range of acts, and that they like the games that are really interactive, but the sing along is really special. It always brings everyone together and it’s so much fun.
If people want to find out more about you where can they follow you on social media?
Nevermind The Newsfeed has a facebook page with updates and events. They can also email nevermindthenewsfeed@hotmail.com
What is YOUR favourite show you have done this year and why?
At one show improv duo Panicky Tack did a mini stage invasion during the singalong and then took over the piano afterwards and serenaded my mum. It was so much fun and so spontaneous.
And Finally in three words – Why should people come and see the show?Diverse, funny, charming
