In the walls of the old castle in Celje there is a restaurant that you will want to visit if you are in the area. The restaurant Gostilna pri Kmetec – Tlačan prides itself on serving an array of traditional and local food to both tourists and locals visiting the area. They follow the recipes that are generations old to create a variation of meals for customers. They also adapt some to bring them more into present times.
The actual interior of the restaurant also has a really rustic and homely feel to it with a wonderful view of the city that is below as well as the castle walls that are right next door. It is a place where many people visit including wedding receptions, meetings and private events.
Throughout the year they also have a seasonal menu that changes depending on what is in season that time of the year. Some of the items on the menu include Grilled Lamb Chops, Baked Perch, Salmon with black poppy seeds on squash cream.
I went to this restaurant in 2015 and really enjoyed the food, it really did taste home made and most importantly, really fresh. It was a wonderful delight to eat at this restaurant and also because it is in Eastern Europe it is really cheap. Highly reccommend.
