It is Classic Andy Month on The Phoenix Remix and we are not just giving you group interviews we are also giving you a proper introduction to each member of the troupe! Today we talk to member Jennifer Currier to find out all about her world of improv.

Hello Jen! how long have you been improvising?
Almost 4 years, but with a 1 year break in the middle
How did you get into improv?
I wanted to take a class of a new, challenging skill and put a shortlist of ideas to friends for a vote. Improv tied with Harmonica, but the intro classes where cheaper. Isn’t that how everyone gets into it?
What is your favourite style of improv and why?
Tough one – I like long form that involves the opportunity for some organic silliness, so lots of formats apply.
Who are your top 5 favourite improvisers and why?
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler because they are absolute legends and I want to be their third best friend.
On the London scene:
Maria Peters (all her stuff is lovely and genuinely happy fun – please she got me into improv to begin with); Ruth Bratt and Pippa Evans (everything I’ve seen of both has been amazing).
What is your favourite warm up game?
Mind Meld
Favourite short form game?
New Choice
What are the three top tips anyone has ever taught you in improv?
Don’t let energy drop
Provide detail
Focus on the relationship
In no more than 5 words, what advice would you give them?
Don’t overthink it
What are some of your favourite new acts you have come across this year and why?
The Dreaming
Jack Left Town
How would you describe your personal sort of improv?
An attempt at playfulness, but no attempts at accents
