It has come to the point of the year when we celebrate all things music and take a look back on the year and what songs that it has provided us with. This year has been the year of the comeback, so many artists have returned to the music scene and have had huge hit singles in doing so. Today we have a look at the first ten in our list of greatest songs of 2017.
1) Shape of You – Ed Sheeran
This was one of the return songs of Ed Sheeran and really showed what he had in store for us throughout the year. This was one of the catchiest songs of the year and everyone went crazy for it throughout the year. It has a great beat and is a delight to the ears and also very addictive.
2) Walk on Water – Eminem feat Beyonce
This is one of the many songs that were called this in 2017 however this one was released in November whilst others were released a lot earlier. Two of the strongest voices in the music world team up for this collaboration.
3) Little Mix – Power
This was a great power song by Britains Hottest girl group this year and did really well in the charts. It has a really catchy chorus and it is hard not to like the song.
4) I Don’t Wanna Live Forever – Zayn and Taylor Swift
Back in February, people went as crazy for this song as they did for the sequel to 50 Shades of Grey. It was a song that you wouldn’t normally see someone like Taylor Swift sing and people went crazy over the fact that she was performing with an ex-Directioner.
5) Believer – Imagine Dragons
This is a great song and just like a lot of the bands music it’s been a great year for this band. This band wasn’t just catchy it also opened up a international editing competition where video editors across the world competed to win a prize for re-editing it.
6) Just Hold On – Louis Tomlinson, Steve Aoki
This was the debut single from ex-Directioner Louis Tomlinson and the first time that he performed it live was sadly after his mother passed away. The song is a great song and has a great beat and lyrics to go with it.
7) You Already Know – Fergie feat Nicki Minaj
This year saw the return to music by the pop sensation Fergie who had this song as one of their hit tracks. It is a catchy little dance number and will make you want to listen to it more.
8) Chained to the Rhythm – Katy Perry
This year saw the return of Katy Perry with a brand new album called Witness and a really catchy first song to go along with it. The first song that was released from the album had a striking music video along with it that was questioning the way that society is in this modern day and really is a video you should watch and see all the in depth connotations that there is.
9 Heavy (feat Kiiara) Linkin Park
This has been a very sad year for all Linkin’ Park fans and people who are fans of rock music as one of the most popular voices in the world sadly passed away this year when they took their own life. This is one of the last songs that Linkin’ Park released with Chester Bennington and whilst it’s different to a lot of their other music, it is really worth a listen.
10) Dirty Laundry – All Time Low
This was the first song to be released off their latest album and whilst its slower and different to their other songs, it has fantastic lyrics and has a lot of great musical undertones.
