The most recent trend in the travel show is to attach a comedy to it and there are so many – some serious, some spoofs, some that are the dynamics of an actual scripted comedy and others because they were one big practical joke! Travel Thursdays have just got bigger as we are now adding a comedic spin on it where we are looking at the comedian versus the travel.
Today we look at a show that teamed up two of the biggest names in Channel 4 comedy and saw them venture out of the 8 out of 10 Cats studio to much more crazier territories. Today we look at the television mini series The Real Man’s Road Trip: Sean and Jon Go West.
Back in 2012, Channel 4 sent funny men Jon Richardson and Sean Lock on an adventure to the deep south of America, Louisianna to see if they have what it takes to live life like real men. The two part series which was presented as a buddy movie mixed with Deliverence (Channel 4s words) was aired in two parts at the beginning of December of that year. It saw the duo take on a number of different tasks to prove they have what it takes to work like real men of the south.
In the show they are taught by real lfe Creole Cowboys Darryl and Peaches to do a number of different things including learning how to auction cattle, learning to play the washboard, doing a trail ride on horseback and even taking part in local traditions.
In the second part of the show the duo travel to the swamp lands to take on even more devilish tasks such as hunting for a variety of animals everything from bullfrogs to alligators which vegetarian Jon fins hard to stomach.
If you want to see these two comedians in a different light instead of just on a panel show or in a theatre doing stand up comedy, then this is the show for you!
