The Travel Book – Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago

If you are visiting Chicago then there is one museum that you must put on your list of things to see and that is the Museum of Science and Industry. If you are visiting via public transport then you need to get the Metra Electric Line from the Downtown Chicago stop at 55th, 56th, 57th street station. The museum is one of the largest science museums in the world and it is home to many amazing exhibits. The museum has a lot of interactive displays that allow you to learn something new in a fun and fascinating way.

One of the exhibits you must visit when you go to the Museum of Science and Industry is the coal mine. The mine has been a the same location since 1933 and in this experience guests travel down to the mineshaft and drive along the rails to visit the walls in which a lot of history lays. It is a very popular exhibit so make sure its one of the first things you do when you enter the museum as it a very popular attraction – and when you visit it, you will see why.

Another popular exhibit at the museum is the Science of Storms and persoanlly I reccomend it. Its a huge area full of interactive exhibits all to do with various storms such as the tornado to the sand storm. Some of the highlights of the exhibition are the hadns on exhibits to do with tornadoes as they are fun and also educational. Throughout the year the museum holds short term exhibits which will give you a different taste of science and industry.

This is a great place to visit if you are tourist in Chicago as its a museum that is really fun – whilst it may be a little bit out of Downtown Chicago, its still a  place that you must go out of your way to visit. The tickets to visit start from $18 and $16 online, you can buy an array of tickets that allow you to go to different exhibits or experiences if you are intersted – they reccomend that you pre-book these as they can sell out really fast.
