The 30 Best Songs of 2016 pt 1

Hello! As 2016 draws to a close it is time to look back at some of the best songs of 2016 and celebrate the year of fantastic music that it has been! There has been some catchy pop songs, some great bands returning to music, some will be remembered for years, others will be forgotten then remembered as a tune when they turn up on an advert or on a radio station. So lets look at The Phoenix Remix top 30 singles of 2016 that are in no particular order.

1 History – One Direction, January

Just when the biggest boy band of the noughties decides to leave their boyband career behind they start to release music off an album that sounded one of their most mature. They released their last single in January of this year.

2 You Can’t Stop The Feeling – Justin Timberlake, May

Mr JTs return to the music scene this year was a big one and was also a catchy one. The single was released to run alongside the release of the animated film Trolls but ended up becoming a massive summer anthem.

3 On What You’re On – Busted, September

This was a big year for Busted as they reunited as a band, went on a UK tour and even released a brand new album. Their music has a brand new sound and has been attracting new audiences to their music.

4 PillowTalk – Zayn

It has been a big year for the ex-One Directioner. He opened up the year with his first debut single that made the charts go crazy and the song go viral and he is ending the year releasing a single with Taylor Swift for the new Fifty Shades of Grey film which hit number one on the pre-sale chart.

5 Side To Side  – Ariana Grande, August

If there is one song that has made exercise machines look hot then this is the video for you. Its catchy and has been a successful hit worldwide.

6 Heathens – 21 Pilots, July

If there is one band that has had a really great year then it is 21 Pilots, they are becoming bigger and bigger by the day and when Heathens was released it did really well in the charts.

7 Hymn For the Weekend – Coldplay, January

This year saw the return of the huge British band, Coldplay and they returned in style by performing at the Super Bowl with none other then Beyonce.

8 This is What you Came For – Calvin Harris feat Rihanna, June

This is one song that kept getting bigger and bigger when more news arose about Calvins personal life. This was one of the first songs that Calvin released after he broke up with Taylor Swift and she had started having a very public relationship with Tom Hiddleston. It was soon announced later on after the release of this single that Taylor had wrote part of it and is singing on the chorus and the song became big once again.

9 You Don’t Know Love – Olly Murs, July

This year saw the return of Essex Lad Olly Murs return to the music scene with an album that is very open about his recent break up with his long term girlfriend. This was the first single off the new album and threw him back into the music limelight and made him a chart topper all over again.

10 Party Like a Russian- Robbie Williams, September

This year also saw the return to the crown to the UKs King of Pop, Robbie Williams with his brand new album called The Heavy Entertainment Show and this was the first single to be released off it. Whilst it has a very random name, like most of Robbies music with Guy Chambers its really catchy.
