There are a whopping 78 and counting improv shows at the Edinburgh Fringe this year, so to try and give you look at some of them that are performing, we are going to break it into as many sub genres that we can. This week we are going to look at the Themed improv shows – these are the shows that are loosely based on a topic but end up being different every night because of audience suggestions.
Adventures of the Improvised Sherlock Holmes 
About: If you are looking for a show that creates new and exciting mysteries for Sherlock Holmes to solve every night then this is a show that you must go and visit. It has improv stars from Racing minds and Impromptu Shakespeare and they are ready to take you on an adventure through the dark and exiciting adventures of the underworld in Victorian Britain. Each show is made up from the audience suggestions of what should happen to Sherlock and Watson next.

Any Suggestions, Doctor? An Improvised Adventure in Space and Time 
About: Ever wondered what a world of Improv would do to Doctor Who? Well now you have now got the chance to witness it yourself! In this parody based show it will take you for a ride in space and time that you will never forget. The show features cast that has revived nominations for both BBC and Royal Television Society awards and they also have a collective of 20 years of improv experience.

Austentatious: An Improvised Jane Austen Novel 
About: This sell out show returns to the Fringe this year! It has an all star cast and will every night create a brand new Jane Austen Novel up on the spot in regards to what the audience’s suggestions area. Previous suggestions have lead to the creation of Sixth Sense and Sensibility, Double 0 Darcy and Mansfield Shark. Every show is performed in period drama costumes with also musical accompaniment.

CSI: Crime Scene Improvisation 
About: This is an utterly unique murder mystery comedy and will definitely be a show you will want to see at the Fringe. No one knows who the killer is including the cast. The show is entirely made up on the spot and where who and what happens is you decision. The choice is yours, the problem is theirs!

Happily Never After 
About: This is an improv show that has been inspired by the dark and creative mind of Tim Burton and Brothers Grimm. The improv group that are called The Maydays, take an audience suggestion and turn it into a unique world with strange twists and turns at every part. It also has an improvised bespoke soundtrack and will create a truly creepy, immersive and fantastical experience.

Shaken Not Stirred: The Improvised James Bond Film 
About: If you want to fill the gap in your James Bond obsession whilst the film industry decide if Tom Hiddleston should take the shoes of 007, why not consider booking tickets for this improv based show all about the Shaken not Stirred heartthrob. Last year they blew the house off of Edinburgh and now they are back to create a new film on the spot all made out of your suggestions.

This Is Soap 
About: Just like the other shows in this list, this is another show that the audience takes control in the way that the story goes. If you love your Eastenders to you Neighbours, then this is the improv show that you must go and see. Just like a normal soap, the stories are different everyday and are sure to make you laugh and be shocked at the plots twists and turns.
