Tell us about:
Your latest single you have released:
Loaded gun
Your favourite lyric in this song:
“Have you got something to hide, something to do die for?” Because it just makes me think that no matter how innocent someone acts or claims, there’s always something going on behind the scenes, maybe something they’re not showing or maybe a secret they’ll take to the grave.
Our personalities are shaped through people around us and our experiences, some of those experiences being something that no one should know.
Your favourite song that you have created that is an album track:
The Other Side. This is because it was one of the first songs we wrote, and originally we wrote it within 2 weeks after I came up with a rhythm that I then hummed and sent in a voice note to Harrison who then turned it into the rhythm you hear today.
There was also originally a drum section/solo in the song but even I agree it didn’t fit too well so we scrapped that, but it was fun for me to play originally.
Your favourite song to play live:
Open Fire. The amount of raw energy I can pour into this song, the pace, the rush it gives me and the creative freedom it gives me when playing, just feels amazing.
The song that was the longest to write and why?
I’d say city lights because there was a lot of points where we disagreed on different parts and kept changing things that just didn’t fell right. We were also in-between guitarists at the time.
One of your previous tracks you would recommend for first time listeners of your music and why?
Waiting for Yesterday as it was one of our first songs that shows our more heavier and fast paced side to it’s fuller extent, and it was also one of the first songs we tried to explore with different techniques as we were all still relatively new to making music rather than just doing covers in our own time.
From memory waiting for yesterday was actually the second song we made, although Harrison had originally wrote it in year 9 and we just put the rest around his vocals and rhythm.
Dream collaboration:
Me personally, my dream collaboration would be working with the band Tool, Jimmy J Bower or producers such as Rick Rubin or Terry Date. However as a band, we’d love to work with the Fontaine’s as we are starting to draw more inspiration from them, we all think they’re very innovative for the indie scene.
Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:
It’s a sense of excitement but also nervousness. It really gets the adrenaline going which when I first sit down at the kit and start to play, feels like pure ecstacy.
Essential items you always take on tour with you?
I always make sure to bring my sticks, drum keys, cymbals, stand, snare, stool and practice pad. As for the rest of the band it’s essentially spare guitars, cables, their amps pics etc, and then there’s our merch box.
Describe your fans in three words:
Describe your fans in three words:
Lacking in taste
A song released in the last few years by an artist or band you wish you had written:
Cinnamon Temple – Hiatus Kaiyote. It was a song I found last year and at first I wasn’t keen but after listening to it and watching an interview with the bass player.
It started to sound amazing to me, and the amount of dedication and technique that went into it just made me say that I’ll one day be able to compose music that is just as great or better.
What we can look forward to from your band this year:
We’re on tour currently so if the people who are reading this having seen us or want to see us again go check where we’re playing near you and get tickets. As part of the tour were also going to Italy, specifically Teramo and Jesi which will be amazing and a big step for us. As for after that you’ll just have to wait and see.
