Welcome to a brand new feature! Every other week we are going to be looking at a different episode of a television show and delve into the world of that show! There is so many great television programmes out there that some of the are forgotten about or they even just get left behind. So let’s celebrate the world of television.
Show: Scrubs
Episode: My Screw Up
Original Release Date: 2004
I have never been a fan of things about Doctors. I am just not a fan of hospital entertainment but Scrubs was a show that I always tried to get into. When I was young I only ever got up to season three. I have tried so many times to go further then that and throughout it never really gripped me and I couldn’t find the effort due to my disinterest in the subject. When it was announced there was going to be a new series for Disney + I thought I might as well give it a try and then I got to an episode and remembered why I stopped.
Season 3 episode 14. My Screw Up is your standard Scrubs episode with guest stars Tara Reid and Brendan Frasier. Ben (who is played by Frasier) appeared in an earlier set of episodes and he was great and very popular with the viewers. He played this really likeable character that is Dr Cox’s best friend and a sister to Jordan. He outshone a lot of the cast and made the show fun.
Apparently the whole episode is inspired by the film the Sixth Sense and when you watch it you will see why. As a kid it annoyed me and also really upset me. As an adults it has the same effect. The episode wasn’t needed and I don’t see why they had to make this episode but it is something you do not expect. Also it is one of the highly rated episodes on a lot of the review sites.
With any doctor or medical show you expect a level of misery but I didn’t like how it was a thing put upon an audience in a show that has a strong comedy element. Whilst others find it innovative, I still dislike it.
