Tell Us about:

Your latest single you have released:

“ICU” is the first single off my upcoming project due later this year. One of the final songs written for the project, “ICU” explores the way narratives are shaped, truths become obscured and perception can be manipulated. “I wrote it about the way the world spins narratives, deceives us and hides the truth from us,”

Your favourite lyric in this song:

‘And maybe I should I breath a little drowning in the city we despise I guess’

Your favourite song that you have created that is an album track:

For this upcoming album has to be my debut single ‘Silver Surfer’

Your favourite song to play live:

Silver Surfer

The song that was the longest to write and why?

The next single I’m releasing actually “Slip Away” took the longest to write purely because I kept rewriting parts because they didn’t quite say what I was trying to say, so I stripped it back and made the lyrics simpler and less convoluted. The production was the same.

I went through loads of different ideas and versions before I found the sound that felt right. I think I was just trying to get the song to a point where the music and the lyrics felt like they were telling the same story. It took a while, but I’m glad I didn’t rush it.

One of your previous tracks you would recommend for first time listeners of your music and why?

I’d probably recommend Seventeen it gives a first-time listener a good sense of both my sound and the more personal side of my writing.

I think it’s a good introduction to me because it has a lot of the things I naturally gravitate towards big guitars and that post punk rap raw, melancholic feeling. The song is quite personal too, looking back at being younger,  and the experiences that shape who you become.

I think it gives you a pretty good idea of where I’m coming from as an artist and the kind of stories I want to tell.

Dream collaboration:

Arctic monkeys

Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:

There’s a split second before I walk on stage where I’m nervous, but as soon as I step out, it completely changes. I feel this rush of adrenaline and everything else kind of disappears. Once the first song starts, I’m not really thinking about anything else just about the music.

The track that is most fun to play live:

Silver Surfer

Essential items you always take on tour with you?

My headphones are probably number one,  I’m always listening to music, especially when travelling. My phone, obviously, because I’m constantly taking photos, making notes and recording ideas. My band, it isn’t the same without them and a bottle of water.

Describe your fans in three words:

Cool as f***

A song released in the last few years by an artist or band you wish you had written:
