Tell Us about:
Your latest stand up show:
My debut solo show “Hello, Good Bi” (currently a WIP) is all about my experiences as a British-Iranian, bi, multilingual, neurodivergent, world-travelling survivor of cancer, with some extra surprises thrown in!
Your favourite joke you have created:
It concerns the famous Roman, Julius Caesar, and how much I have in common with him. It’s okay to be jealous…
Your favourite venue to perform at:
The Frog and Bucket in Manchester is where it all started for me, as I did their comedy course some years ago and I’d always loved going there even as an audience member, so it still amazes me when I go up on stage.
The joke that was the longest to write and why?
I have many funny stories about my late grandma, from whom I inherited my eccentricity. But some things get lost in translation, so I had to make sure it all sounded funny for an English audience.
Comedy hero:
Sarah Millican. I went to watch her when I was a student (before she was famous) and I laughed so much I couldn’t breathe. I am always delighted when people compare my style (what I’d call “Northern and naughty”) to her—she’s my favourite!
Dream venue to play at:
I really wanted to be on Live at the Apollo one day, but that dream got destroyed very recently. All of these cuts to comedy—pfffft. In a time where so many of us are depressed, we need more comedy shows, not more documentaries about serial killers…
Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:
On the inside I am bricking it, but on the outside, I try to feign confidence with a little dance. I grew up very shy, so public speaking doesn’t come naturally to me and I’ve had to train myself to stop overthinking and just go for it.
The hardest joke to perform and why:
I talk about my experiences with cancer, and I’ve often had people from the audience come up to me after my set and ask if I really had cancer. I would never joke about something like that if it weren’t true!
Essential items you always take on tour with you?
Tasty vegan snacks and plenty of photos of my cats!
Describe your fans in three words:
Kind; supportive; sophisticated!
What can we look forward to from you this year:
“Hello, Good Bi” is currently touring as a WIP, but by next year it should hopefully have developed into an established show. So, come to watch it at Cane and Grain on Tuesday 6th October 2026 at 8.15pm for the Women in Comedy Festival in Manchester or wait to catch it again next year! I would love to see you and I am sure I’ll make you laugh
