Your latest stand up show:
Bed Boy, which I will be doing at the Women in Comedy Festival October 1, is my debut comedy show. I just did the Edinburgh Fringe and made The LIST 7 Fringe Comedy Highlights (woohooo!!) and before that got nominated for Best Debut at Leicester Comedy Festival(weeeeee!).
This show is about taking on the end of the world like it’s the best party you’ve ever been to. Also I’m in bed the entire hour which is fun for me – and you can find out why if you come to the show! If you are coping with the state of the world horizontally, this show is for you.
I performed my last day of the Edinburgh Fringe after about 4 hours of sleep due to big end-of-the-festival partying. It was probably the most fun show of the run. I was pretty delirious. Everyone in the audience was drinking morning pints, the cafe owners where I would get my morning coffee gave me a shot of whiskey to have on stage, and we had a proper laugh.
Your favourite joke you have created:
I love all my babies! especially the ones that are harder to crack. Probably the one I’m most proud of is “I have something called MS, which they say is a progressive disease, but I disagree, because if it were truly progressive, it wouldn’t attack a queer person.” also my flashlight joke is definitely one of my favs.
Your favourite venue to perform at:
There’s a free show on a Tuesday night at a legendary gay bar in Los Angeles (where I’m from) called Akbar. The audience is a lot of unimpressed gays (which, honestly…same) and getting them to laugh is truly one of the greatest things. Also the Bill Murray in London is an absolute gem and the audiences are huge comedy lovers so it’s just really fun.
The joke that was the longest to write and why?
Writing about losing my friends to board games as I age feels like a joke that I am endlessly trying to find, because frankly, everyone love games. And every time I talk about how I don’t, I feel ganged up on by the audience. I will persevere though! My story will be heard!

Describe the feeling you get when you walk on stage to do a show:
It’s a mix of pure excitement and total self-doubt. A very strange cocktail. I feel simultaneously like the dad that’s coaching his kid to “get out there and give them everything you got!” and like the kid that doesn’t believe in himself but then hits a home run. (can you tell I’m American from this story also that I have daddy issues?)
The hardest joke to perform and why:
I have a new story about how I figured out I was gay in my show Bed Boy. It is such a funny story because it is deeply embarrassing on a personal level (you have to come to the show to hear it). But the story is so humiliating that every time I tell it I am simultaneously full of shame and can’t stop laughing, and ultimately it makes the audience laugh even more because of that.
Essential items you always take on tour with you?
Too many books I don’t end up not reading, sleep mask and a lock of my lover’s hair.
