There is always a story behind a photograph and I thought it would be a fun way to look at the world of travel. So, welcome to the feature that will appear regularly in the travel section.

I only lived in Newcastle for a year but I made it my mission to be able to visit a section of it before I left. In one of my last weeks there, I finally got the chance.

It was an impressive as I hoped it would be, it just was like stepping back in time and the history surrounding the area was just magic. I took this photo, I think at a point where there is a gap where you walk through. I wanted to show the drama and how big the wall actually is and how impressive the stones are. I like the way that it divides the photos and you have this massive wall down the middle that creates this dramatic split.

It is a photograph that really emphasises why Hadrian’s Wall is so impressive as a historical landmark. The bold colours of the grass really pushes the image and makes it stand out in the countryside.
