Tell us a little bit about your style of show?
My show is mostly surreal stand-up with flourishes of clowning. Within the show I try to remove my ‘mask’ metaphorically through a toy kitchen I got as a toddler. I’m hoping to welcome the audience to see my inner autistic thoughts through humour. pathos and exploration. It’s time to take Bex seriously because she needs validation and only you can do it.
What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?
OMG! So many! So Camden Fringe specifically – you’ve got David Ingram, Kate-Lois Elliott, President Obonjo and Nipslip. Further afield I’d recommend Cam Harris, Cam Borges, Lady Bolognese or even Joz Norris is Hugh Jackman Is The Phantom of the Opera!
How are rehearsals going?
They have been slowly edging along. I’d say its about 80% written? The show is 3/4 stand-up with a 1/4 clown focused. I spent the later summer-winter of 2025 drafting ideas and testing bits out. Jan-April 2026 I’m starting to add structure to the show, trying to learn bits of the script I am less familiar with and learning how things flow together. I’ve been getting excellent help from Josh InVain and Charlie Vero-Martin. Both excellent comedians too!
What is the best thing about performing at the Camden fringe?
There is a great deal of flexibility and a long application period which is very good for someone like myself who works at slower, more methodical pace.
London can be an expensive place to perform in – what key advice would you give to performers that is a sort of
life hack?
I’d definitely recommend getting a railcard for train journeys. If you gig or travel a lot, the railcard pays for itself pretty quickly. A general life hack I’d recommend is you can use a teaspoon or edge of a knife to leverage open a tough jar lid…
Who would be your ultimate dream audience member?
It’s someone who’s the right amount of high energy, without being annoying. They instantly vibe with the jokes of your show and whom agree to sing your praises on social media. I’ve also loved the guests who have come and watched my WP’s and then post-show shared their experiences with topics I’ve mentioned in my hour such as PCOS and autism.
The iconic image of the Camden Fringe is the Pigeon – if you could call this years pigeon a name to represent its style what would it be and why?
I’m thinking Gregor or James like the actor James Dean. Edgy and the illustration of the pigeon is kind of rock and roll, they’re wearing a leather jacket? A messenger pigeon of rebellion, being true to one’s self?
If people want to find out more about you, where can they follow you on social media?
The best place to follow me would be on my instagram: @bexturnercomedy. I’m currently trying to reach 3,000 followers! I’m also on TikTok as: @bex.turner but I’m still new to that platform.
And Finally in three words – Why should people come and see the show?
Explorative, imaginative, witty.
