It is August which only means one thing – it is Camden Fringe time! Over the next few weeks we are chatting to acts that are performing at the festival and finding all about their show and what they would call this years iconic Camden Fringe Pigeon! Today we find out about the show Tales From the Wasteland: Post-Apocalyptic Improv

Tell us a little bit about your style of show? 

Tales From The Wasteland is a fully improvised story based in a post-apocalyptic future! All the characters, plotlines and dialogue is made up on the spot each and every show – and inspired by an audience suggestion.

What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?

Improv The Dead and A Curious Demise, both improv acts with darker themes and plenty of death!

How are rehearsals going?

They’re always a big laugh and we crack each other up a lot. We tend to go to much weirder places when in our own private rehearsal space and it gets toned down in front of an audience. One particular rehearsal we ended up breaking the 4th wall of split-screen scenes by transporting characters between the split screen elements – all reality broke!

What is the best thing about performing at the Camden fringe?

The multiple runs in a row really help finding out what’s best about your show and what changes can be made. We always discover fun new things to try which stick around in future shows.

London can be an expensive place to perform in – what key advice would you give to performers that is a sort of life hack?

One thing we’ve learned is that there’s not much safe space left in the wasteland. To increase your chances of surviving raiders I suggest finding a group and sticking together – group accommodation!

Who would be your ultimate dream audience member?

Todd Howard of Bethesda – he may be so inspired that we get included as characters in the next Fallout game or season.

The iconic image of the Camden Fringe is the Pigeon – if you could call this year’s pigeon a name to represent its style what would it be and why?

They have a leather jacket this year, great for our theme! Let’s call him Mad Flaps.
