The one thing about the Hoots Potterrow venues is that whilst they are very on point for fringe in regards to being very niche they are a very required taste. I had only been in the yurts before so the Wee Container was a whole new experience for me. A lot smaller then the yurt and those with claustrophobia may find it hard going as it is a very small enclosed room. With all that said, that should not be a reason to not see Lilla Multipass show.
Before you enter the room you are welcome to a ray if sunshine, the lead star is singing along to Natasha Beddingfield’s Unwritten and as the audience members walk in a lot of them join in and it’s already a party before the show has begun.
The show is based around Women (33) talking to her therapist don’t let this fool you though, this is a really uplifting show and focusses on comedy around the subject. The show is a mixture of monologue, character and music which have all been built very well due to Lillas improv background. You can see the way that she has carefully developed parts of the show it comes from someone who is multi talented and understands the importance of character development.
One of the highlights and stars of the show is the items based around IKEA. I don’t want to give anything away but it’s not everyday someone creates a show that has so much creativity based around a do it yourself furniture shop.
Also there is some great parts about boss bitch girl and delving into the world of girl group messages and hitting the nail on the hilarity of it all.
The show relies heavily on audience participation but don’t let that out you off, just like an improv space, she makes it safe and keeps a keen eye on those that want to get involved.
This is Lillas first year at the fringe and it’s obvious that it is going to go far as it is so unique, a burst of energy and makes the hour go by in a flash.
Additionally, actions speak louder then words – it got a stand ovation where everyone in the room stood up. That just tells you the talent that oozes on stage.
