It is August which only means one thing – it is Camden Fringe time! Over the next few weeks we are chatting to acts that are performing at the festival and finding all about their show and what they would call this years iconic Camden Fringe Pigeon! Today we find out about the show Tape.

How did you come up with the name of your show that your taking to the Camden fringe?
The title of the show comes from a key part of the play where a cassette tape is played. The play is written by Stephen Belber, an American playwright, screenwriter and film director. He is a member of The Tectonic Theatre Project from New York City.
Tell us a little bit about your style of show?
TAPE is a dark comedy, weaved with tension and razor sharp dialogue. Three friends are reunited a decade after high school in a motel room in the American midwest.
What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?
Terry’s Been Murdered by Based on Originals, Milkshakes Milkshakes Milkshakes by Boyhouse Productions, and Deliver Us From Evil from Khaos Productions.
How are rehearsals going?
Rehearsals have been collaborative and loads of fun! We are working with a brilliant director (Jaimee Doyle) and are super excited to see what audiences think of the play.
What is the best thing about performing at the Camden fringe?
Being part of a diverse community of amazing creatives, meeting new people and supporting each other’s work. It’s a celebration of a huge amount of talent across London!
London can be an expensive place to perform in – what key advice would you give to performers that is a sort of life hack?
Check Freecycle for set pieces and props, hire your friends to help you (pay them in beer) and speak to other creatives about their previous experiences doing Fringe if it’s your first time!
Who would be your ultimate dream audience member?
It would be incredible if Uma Thurman was in the audience, as she starred in the film adaptation of TAPE.
The iconic image of the Camden Fringe is the Pigeon – if you could call this years pigeon a name to represent its style what would it be and why?
Paul Eddie seems like a name that suits the Camden Fringe Pigeon.
