Hello nice to meet you, tell us about yourself!
Venus fly trap were a post punk electronic duo based in Northampton- Alex Novak-Vox and Andy Denton guitar/electronics we’ve been going since 1986…
Tell us about the new album
The new album is a compilation of our work thus far we will be celebrating 40 years this July albums called DEJA VU a recollection plus rarities 1986-2026 will be out on glass modern records.
Favourite track in new album and why?
As its a compilation of tracks from various releases each track is a favourite as it got picked for this release best of the best.
Tell us a bit about the recording process, was it fun to do?
This compilation represents different ways of working from being in a conventional studio with a concentrated period of recording and mixing to now working with electronics and computers where it evolves over period of time until you are satisfied its a longer process.
What inspired the album name?
DEJA VU is something that your brain thinks its seen before..in this case heard …
Tell us the idea behind the album cover?
Basically l used photos from different periods of venus fly traps history as the artwork. Both myself and andy come from a graphics background.
What one of your songs on the new album do you think will the most difficult to rehearse for a live audience?
With electronics you can produce unusual sounds and beats that feel unnatural to play live some we have managed to work with but you have to concentrate..
Why should people listen to the album?
It will give people an insight into what we have produced over the years a snapshot..hopefully they will delve further…
