It is festival season and that means that in the next month there is so many great comedy festivals to look forward to! This month we are looking at some of the great shows that you can see at the Edinburgh Fringe. So take note because we are going to give you all the information you need for just a handful of some of the great shows happening this year!

Hello! Tell us all about your show!

Overtone is a play about two people who meet when they are teenagers at an elite choir. The story jumps back and forth between them as teenagers and them in the middle of their lives. It’s about love.

What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?

I’m looking forward to seeing as much as I can.

I have to see something from the international festival.

I have to see one student show.

I have to see one clown show.

I have to see one Belgian show.

I have to see one thing with a large cast.

I have to see one musical.

I have to see one wild piece of late night performance art.

I have to see one thing I know absolutely nothing about.

But really it’s all about the recommendations that you pick up when you’re there. I don’t think it’s wise to plan too much.

Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe. 

You cannot wait for people to find your show. You have to get up in people’s faces. It’s really hard to maintain total belief, but your passion for your show on the street is the only way to compete with massive commercial shows.

Flyering on the mile has never worked for me, it’s better on quieter spots where people are more likely to slow down and listen to your pitch.

Go easy on yourself. It’s a marathon not a sprint.

Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe

Coffee, flyer, watch show, flyer, coffee, watch show, eat, flyer, do my own show, drink, watch show, drink, bed, repeat.

Ok, where is your favourite place to eat at the Fringe? 

The REAL mosque kitchen, in the back of the mosque through the car park.

Best thing about performing at the fringe?

Connecting with audiences and artists. It can be so exhausting and intense, but because of this I think you can make friends fast. It can be a lonely place too, but if you can reach across and find an artistic community in the city – there’s nothing better. 

Also… a post-show pint of Blue Moon with a massive piece of orange in it.

Do you bring anything special from home to make it feel more special whilst you are away?

I’ve started to bring my bike which makes getting from show to show way easier. Game changer!

What are your best hacks to save money whilst at the Fringe?

It’s impossible.

But take advantage of all the free shows within your venue.

And try not to drink every single night.

And bring a tupperware so you can meal prep your lunch.
