It’s absolute madness! Flamenc-oh! is the ultimate meeting point between the most passionate quejío of flamenco and Yllana’s wild, visual, wordless humor. It’s an energetic, hilarious, rhythm-filled show where we break every cliché of the genre to make the audience burst out laughing and feel deeply moved.
It’s not just flamenco, it’s not just comedy… it’s a theatrical party for all audiences, no matter what language they speak!
#What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?
I love improvisation, physical theatre, and the most irreverent stand-up comedy. Since I work with the language of visual humor, I keep my eyes wide open to see how other companies break the fourth wall. So if you’ve got any recommendations for wild comedy or cabaret, drop me a message on Instagram and I’ll go with the flow!
If this is your first time – what are you looking forward to?
The idea of being surrounded by so many creative people from all over the world blows my mind. Performing in such an intense international showcase and seeing how such a diverse audience reacts to our mix of flamenco and physical comedy is an incredible adrenaline rush.
Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe
As it’s my debut, I imagine a very intense but fun routine: waking up early, doing my voice and body warm-ups (trying not to scare the neighbors in the building!), heading out into the streets full of the company’s energy to promote the show, and in the afternoon then going on stage to give 200%. To end the day, a nice beer with the team and other artists to talk about how the day went.
Ok, where is your favourite place to eat at the Fringe?
Since it’s my first time, I’m going with a long list of recommendations I’ve been given, but since I usually prefer quality fast food and discovering small independent street stalls while wandering around the city, that’s what I’ll be looking for. I’m open to food suggestions on my social media!
Best thing about performing at the fringe?
Absolute freedom and connection with the world. Being at a festival where there are no language barriers and where the audience comes with open minds and hearts, ready to be surprised by original proposals, is every artist’s dream.
Do you bring anything special from home to make it feel more special whilst you are away?
A good extra virgin olive oil from my homeland (that’s sacred in my suitcase) and my amulets for the dressing room. Being away from home is much easier when both the palate and the soul keep their roots.
What are your best hacks to save money whilst at the Fringe?
As an artist, you develop superpowers to survive. My master plan includes becoming an expert in local supermarkets, living off the audience’s applause and ovations (which nourish the soul), and, if I’m lucky, getting invited for a drink by the friendly and attractive people at the festival.
