It is festival season and that means that in the next month there is so many great comedy festivals to look forward to! This month we are looking at some of the great shows that you can see at the Edinburgh Fringe. So take note because we are going to give you all the information you need for just a handful of some of the great shows happening this year!

Newsrevue is the longest running live comedy show and it is currently now in its 47th year. It’s a parody show on all current affairs with songs and sketches written largely by the cast and director with additional material from former NewsRevue casts and some external submissions.
What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?
As someone who enjoys theatre in all shapes, sizes, forms and styles. I’m honestly looking to be surprised by those bizarre little treats you find playing in a back ally space to an audience of 3 at 2am.
Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe.
I performed in Fringe back in 2009 with some of my classmates from BRIT school. We were incredibly lucky to be able to write, direct and perform our own piece. It was a verbatim theatre show on PTSD and the aftereffects of returning home from conflict, called ‘As you were’ A very different vibe to the show I’m performing 17 years later. My key piece of advice would be watch out you don’t burn yourself out in the first week, there’s so many things to see during the festival and it’s very easy to get lost in it all very quickly.
Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe
It’s not a fringe experience if you’re not flyering on the mile at some point in the day, normally slightly hungover and overwhelmed. Our show is at 6pm so luckily, we’ll have all day to prep any new silly material, support some fellow actors seeing their show and then spend the evening exploring the festival and meeting new and interesting creatives.
Ok, where is your favourite place to eat at the Fringe?
I’m sure the festival has changed in 17 years since I’ve been there, but I remember a wagyu burger van somewhere near the old Underbelly site that I would visit more times than I care to remember. I still think about those burgers to this day.
Best thing about performing at the fringe?
The opportunity to celebrate any form of creativity in a space that is (although sheer chaos) always understanding and welcoming. Its 30 days on non-stop adventures and opportunities to meet some great people.
Do you bring anything special from home to make it feel more special whilst you are away?
I’m a light packer and used to moving around from spot to spot so I won’t be bringing anything, but my fiancé and family will be coming up to the fringe to support the show throughout its run and that’s all the home I need.
What are your best hacks to save money whilst at the Fringe?
Meal Prep and budget for each day. Make sure you keep on top of how much everything costs and make sure you keep yourself hydrated and fed. There’s nothing worse than doing show on an empty stomach.
