Hello! Tell us all about your show!
Comedian, producer and Edinburgh obsessive Stephen Gordon (Mirror, LADBible) brings Notes: Comedy B-Sides – a late-night rotating format show – to Just the Tonic at The Caves, Edinburgh Fringe, 6th–30th August 2026. In an era of meticulously rehearsed solo hours, Notes: Comedy B-Sides pulls back the curtain on the messy, brilliant and chaotic process that comes before the polished show.
Every comedian has a Notes app full of half-formed premises, 3am voice memos, and ideas that went somewhere unexpected and never made it into the hour. This is the show where four rotating comedians open their phones and perform them live – whether they’re ready or not. A different lineup every night. The green room made public.

Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe.
I’ve been doing the Fringe for 20 years including musicals at the age of 16, theatre, music and so many years spent as a flyerer on the mile for 12 hours a day in the rain!
It can be exhausting but it’s so much easier with decent footwear and regulated blood sugar!
Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe
My show is on at 23:40 so there will be some late nights meaning i’ll have a lie in, make sure I go to the gym and get some sunlight in. Admin from 11-2pm and then from 2-8pm it’s all about seeing shows, pals and having jolly japes before preparing for my show!
Ok, where is your favourite place to eat at the Fringe?
Civerinos, Hunter Square for a made to order Chicago Style Deep Dish Pizza.. Or down in Leith a beautiful Greek restaurant called Ella – Taste of Greece
Best thing about performing at the fringe?
I believe you get a years worth of experiences in a month alongside thousands of performers going through the same highs and lows. It’s an incredible way to live life in August!
Do you bring anything special from home to make it feel more special whilst you are away?
I live in Edinburgh so all my special things are with me already.
What are your best hacks to save money whilst at the Fringe?
10-to-10 in Delhi on Nicholson Street is an incredible place to get a tasty, nutritious
lunch.
Also be friends with flyerers… often they’ll give nice people free tickets because they need an audience and generally it’s the people that chat to them and are nice rather than the mostly dismissive.
If people want to find out more about you where can they follow you on social media?

And Finally in three words – Why should people come and see the show?
