Every Sunday we are taking a look at the world of books. I read a lot and always want to share my opinions on what I read, so I thought it would be fun to write reviews. Today we are looking at a book that is quite unique for Daphne Du Maurier.

Synopsis
As a tour guide, Armino Fabbio leads a pleasant, if uneventful life – until he becomes circumstantially involved in the death of a peasant in Rome. The woman, he gradually learns, was his family’s beloved servant many years ago before, in his native town of Ruffano. Fabbio returns to his birthplace, and finds it is haunted by the phantom of his brother, Aldo, who was shot down in flames during the war.
Over five hundred years before, the sinister Duke Claudio, known as The Falcon, lived his twisted, brutal life, preying on the people of Ruffano. The town seems to have forgotten its violent history, but have things really changed? The parallels between the past and present become ever more evident.

Positive Points
This is a really different kind of story for Daphne Du Maurier and initially you are not sure what to expect. When the story starts the develop it keeps you hanging on and it is an interesting plot that makes you want to keep reading.
Negative Points
It does take a while find it’s feet but stick with it.
Overall Review
Whilst it is completely different to her other books I would say give this story a chance. It is still a page turner as she is a fantastic writer and it will give you something completely new to read.
