Hello! Tell us all about your show!

Dice is a stand-up show about growing up in a Ugandan-Indian household where success was never really a question — it was a multiple choice. Doctor, engineer, banker… or disappointment.

The show follows my life through the lens of a dice — six sides representing the different forces that shape who you become: identity, family, culture, career, relationships and risk. From not quite fitting the stereotype of what an Indian man “should” look like, to navigating strict family expectations, to accidentally building a very sensible career in banking, it’s about what happens when your life starts to feel like it’s been decided for you.

It’s personal, but very relatable — about the pressure to make the “right” choices, the fear of getting it wrong, and the slow realisation that maybe you never got to roll the dice yourself.

It’s a mix of sharp stand-up and storytelling, with big laughs throughout, but it builds to a bigger question: what happens when you finally take control and make a choice for yourself?

What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?

Definitely looking forward to seeing James Acaster. I think his approach to the world baffles me and cracks me up so I always love to hear what he’s got cooking. 

Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe.

This is my debut show, I’ve been up there a few times to compilation shows and work in progress shows but this is my first time doing a full run. The advice I’ve been given is don’t get smashed everyday, remember you’re at work and manage laundry well…i dont plan to bring 30 pairs of pants so i’m taking the last one seriously.

If this is your first time – what are you looking forward to?

Being able to do an hour long show everyday, perfecting what I’ve been working on and also just being able to hang with my colleagues we are usually just all over the country doing our own thing but fringe brings everyone to one spot and it’s nice to see everyone and catch up

Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe

I have this theory that I’m going to go to the gym every day but I think that is literally a dream. I’m sure I’ll get enough steps in walking about town. So wake up, have breakfast, steal lunch, perform in a sold out room (prays) and then get home, face mask and fifa. 

Ok, where is your favourite place to eat at the Fringe?

I can’t lie, the crepe place. If they had memberships I’d have once, last year I had about 3 transactions back to back from the crepe stall…I’m a mess…

Best thing about performing at the fringe?

I’ll have to let you know but having been there over the years its the vibe of the city, it buzzin’ and everyone is happy. Also the fact you can perform everyday and perfect your show is a good byproduct to the vibessss.

Do you bring anything special from home to make it feel more special whilst you are away?

I think I’m going to bring my playstation, its nothing sentimental but at the end of the day I just want to get lost in a game and kill some zombies or play a bit of fifa, everything outside that accommodation is work so it’s a nice lil unwind. I suppose these days photos of families are all on the phone and i’m not willing to talk about my teddy bear.

What are your best hacks to save money whilst at the Fringe?

My accommodation comes with breakfast, so anyone staying there I’d say eat breakfast and then make a sandwich for your lunch to go, nab a bit of fruit and a yoghurt maybe, we’re in a cost of living crisis and then you’re all set…until it’s crepe time.
