Hello! Tell us all about your show!
1979: Persianality Disorder is my debut show, a dark comedy hour that blends politics with personal storytelling. I am from Iran, and after leaving a theocratic dictatorship, I found out that liberated people could be as annoying as oppression. The show is about being an Iranian woman in the West and making sense of the absurd realities you have to live through.
It’s on at Coco Boho, 125b George St.
What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?
I don’t know yet. But my friends for sure: Rob Moriarty and Sofia May.
If this is your first time – what are you looking forward to?
I’m really looking forward to showcasing my work and seeing how it’s received by a proper comedy audience.
Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe
I’ll probably wake up at 1 pm, scroll through Instagram in bed for an hour, then have coffee with an apple, which is my skinny girl breakfast. Then gigs, lunch, flyering, my show more gigs, more flyering. My accommodation this year has a gym, so in my head I’m going to set time aside to work out, but there is absolutely no way I actually will.
I’ll probably stay up late hanging out with comics I don’t get to see any other time of year.
Ok, where is your favourite place to eat at the Fringe?
Let Me Eat too (isn’t it everyone’s favourite?)
Best thing about performing at the fringe?
You get to perform to an audience who have seen a lot of comedy. They have taste, even if it’s different from yours. I feel like I’m performing to real comedy fans at the Fringe, and I love that.
Do you bring anything special from home to make it feel more special whilst you are away?
No, I need room for my clothes and shoes. All I need to be happy is enough outfit options.
What are your best hacks to save money whilst at the Fringe?
Don’t leave home hungry
If people want to find out more about you where can they follow you on social media?
They can follow me at @sepcomedy on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
And Finally in three words – Why should people come and see the show?
It’s not for everyone.
