All this month we are celebrating areas around Edinburgh that you could visit as a day trip to have a short break from the hustle and bustle of the Fringe. Today we are heading a short tram journey away to Leith.
Leith is on the edge of Edinburgh and is popular in the tourist season due to the cruise ships. You can get to Leith quite easily as it is just a jump on the tram and is the last stop.
Leith is popular for may reasons – the Royal Yacht Britannia, The Shore Restaurant, the Maritime history and of course being part of the Trainspotting film setting.
There are some interesting things to see in Leith and one area that stands out is the Port District with it’s interesting buildings. That for me personally felt like some of the buildings I have seen in Copenhagen.
If you go up towards the port where the cruise ships come in there is also an area with lots of shopping plus the entrance to the Royal Yacht Britannia.
I would head to Leith to have a look around, there are also meant to be some amazing places to eat but I didn’t have time to check them out.
