Hello! Tell us all about your show!

ROOMIES is a solo show about a former LA it-girl. On the eve of her 30th birthday, she’s stuck with the last VIP she ever wanted on the guest list – her 18-year-old schizophrenic roommate in a treatment facility. It’s a dark comedy and it’s based on a true story!

What other acts are you looking forward to seeing at the fringe?

My favorite things to see at the Fringe are usually solo shows, theater, and cabaret. I’m especially drawn to the weirder, edgier work – the kind of stuff that feels a little too out there for the U.S. scene. I tend to go straight for the programs at Underbelly and Summerhall. They consistently have some of the most exciting, boundary-pushing work. And I’m SO excited to be performing at Underbelly Bristo Square! What a dream!

Have you done the fringe before? What are the key pieces of advice you have been given or would give to new groups or people performing at the fringe.

This is my first year as a performer, but I’ve visited before! I’d say my biggest piece of advice is to find the right team. Especially as a solo performer and international artist, that support system is everything – you’re the only one on stage, so you need people behind you who are fully in it with you. If you can, visiting the Fringe ahead of time is incredibly helpful. And overall: start early. Workshop your show, apply for grants, fundraise early, research the fringe. If it’s a new show, two years ahead sounds about minimum.

If this is your first time – what are you looking forward to?

Performing! Seeing shows, making friends – I am just so over the moon.

Talk us through your daily routine for a day at the Fringe

I imagine it goes something like – go on a walk, flyer before the show, perform, see shows, see more shows, and try not to stay out too late.

Ok, where is your favourite place to eat at the Fringe?

The Edinburgh Larder for breakfast. And I love Bertie’s fish and chips. Clarinda’s Tearoom.

Do you bring anything special from home to make it feel more special whilst you are away?

Travel size white noise machines. And a mini candle.

What are your best hacks to save money whilst at the Fringe?

Eating crumpets with butter from the grocery store.
