Tell Us about:

Your latest single you have released:

‘Time’. It’s a mashup of NuMetal tunes and exotic elements that create a unique, catchy sound. Lyrically, the song reflects my personal view on the passing of time—looking at my own life, the state of the world, and the constant flow of past, present, and future. I write metaphorically; even though it’s written from my perspective, I want listeners to interpret and morph the song to fit their own reality.

Your favourite lyric in this song:

Writing the lyrics, it’s hard to make a distinction, but here goes:
‘And from the outside looking in
The sands are ever flowing
The lines imprinted in my face
Tattoos that will never fade.’

Your favourite song that you have created that is an album track:

Since we’ve only released three singles so far, the choice is limited. Personally, and much like with lyrics, choosing between your own ‘children’ is impossible. My favorite would be ‘Snatched,’ our first single as Neverskin. The groovy flow of the music, especially in the verses, combined with those melodic, multi-layered choruses and the surprising bridge… yeah, it’s definitely a trip.

Your favourite song to play live:

Well, given that we’ve only released three singles and just started a year ago, we haven’t played live as Neverskin yet. However, I played in a band called ‘Ambiossis’ about 20 years ago, and the song I enjoyed performing most was ‘Waste of Time.’ It was always our closer; I used to jump into the crowd at every single show just to get in the pit for a bit.

The song that was the longest to write and why?

The song that’s coming out next. We took a bit of a break between ‘Time’ and this one due to holidays and other things going on, so it took a while longer than planned. But honestly, when we finally got back together, it felt like a fresh start. We wrote and recorded it in record time, and it’s become Remy’s new favorite—so definitely something to look forward to.

One of your previous tracks you would recommend for first time listeners of your music and why?

Well, since both tracks differ quite a bit, I’d say go for ‘Piece of Mind’ if you’re looking for something more mellow, with plenty of ambience and emotion. It’s a track that comes from deep within and follows a more linear path, but still has its fair share of curveballs. If you prefer something with more of a party vibe, then ‘Snatched’ is the one for you. It’s a real bounce track. It’s got a lot of diversity, with flowing raps, melodic choruses, and an Asian-style bridge, plus a killer outro. Honestly, they work best if you listen to both of them in a row.

Dream collaboration:

I’d say Stephen from Taproot or Lajon from Sevendust would be amazing. And if I’m truly in dream mode? Daniel Johns from Silverchair, even though he’s not really active in that way anymore (I read he still does some solo work), it’s still the ultimate dream. But since we love to experiment and color outside the lines, we’d be honored to work with any experienced musician who’s down for that. As for Remy, he wouldn’t mind jamming with other guitarists like Stephen Carpenter from Deftones, or Head and Munkey from Korn.

Describe your fans in three words:

Honest, Supportive, growing (with us)

A song released in the last few years by an artist or band you wish you had written:

‘Specter’ by Bad Omens’. The raw emotion there is just incredible—not just from the vocal performance, but the way the song builds and the layers in the music are just wild. Honestly, hats off to them for crafting something that brilliant.

What we can look forward to from your band this year:

First of all, you can look forward to more single releases. We have a song that’s about 95% finished, and as I mentioned, it’s going to be a wild one. Apart from that, we’ve been working on something completely different, a track that’s nothing like the others we’ve done  It’s deeply personal, so it’s proven a bit more challenging to record, but it’s coming along. As for live performances, that’s not on the table quite yet. It all depends on how the fans react and whether the demand for us to hit the stage continues to grow.
